Chief coach Park Hang-seo honoured with commemorative insignia

VOV.VN - A commemorative insignia was bestowed on chief coach of the Vietnam national football squad Park Hang-seo at a special ceremony held in his homeland, the Republic of Korea (RoK), on February 1.

The insignia, designed by Mint Corporation of the Rok, was presented to Park Hang-seo in recognition of his contribution to Vietnam’s football over the years. This is the first time a insignia has been released to honour a Korean football expert.

The item features the words “Magic Park Hang-seo” and his signature on the front. On the other side is the sentence “Don’t bow head because you try all best”, all of which have been written in both Vietnamese and Korean.

Following its debut in the RoK, the commemorative item will then go on sale in Vietnam, and the proceeds will be used to support a Vietnamese youth football project on Park’s request.

Park Hang-seo has just completed two weeks of mandatory isolation in the RoK as part of COVID-19 preventive measures and is currently enjoying a vacation in his hometown for the Lunar New Year festival.

He plans to return to Vietnam in March, but it this may change due to the complex nature of the fresh COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

Under his coaching, U23 Vietnam secured second place at the 2018 AFC Football Championship, entered the semi-final round of the 2019 Asian Games, and won the AFF Cup late 2018.

He led the national squad to the 2019 Asian Cup quarterfinals, the best result the squad has achieved in history.

Vietnam has so far maintained their position among FIFA’s 100 best performing nations and topped the regional rankings.
