Hanoi FC football stars holds first training session with national squad

VOV.VN - Following their participation in the AFC Cup 2019, the players from Hanoi FC joined in a training session alongside their teammates from the national squad in Hanoi on October 6.

The players were late meeting up with the national team due to prior club commitments. V.League 1 champions Hanoi FC were knocked out of the AFC Cup 2019 after being held to a 0-0 draw by April 25 Sports Club, also known as 4.25 SC, of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The goalless draw in the tie’s second leg at the Kim Il-sung stadium on October 2 meant Hanoi FC lost on away goals.
It took the Hanoi FC footballers several days to return to the country and are only just able to participate in the national team’s training sessions with their teammates.
Head coach Park Hang-seo is delighted to welcome back the Hanoi FC footballers, with many of them poised to play a key role in the upcoming fixtures of the national squad.
Only European-based players Cong Phuong and Van Hau are currently absent from the Vietnamese men’s national football team.
Hanoi FC’s midfield maestro Quang Hai provided the focus of the media during the training session.
Duy Manh, Hung Dung, and Duc Huy are all well-established faces in the national squad.
Goalkeeper Van Lam is the only footballer currently playing for a foreign football club to have joined up with the national team.
With their season in full swing, the players from Hanoi FC easily caught up with the national team’s intensive training.
Van Hau and Cong Phuong are expected to meet up with the national team tomorrow.
Head coach Park Hang-seo held private talks with striker Anh Duc who suffered an injury.
All of the squad’s players will have two days of training ahead of the tie against Malaysia on October 10 in the Asian zone’s second qualifying round for the World Cup 2020.
