Quoc Hoang makes history at Jacoby Scottish Open 2024

VOV.VN - Vietnamese billiards player Duong Quoc Hoang exceled against his rival from the United States in the final of the 9-Ball Jacoby Scottish Open 2024 on May 6 in Glasgow (Scotland), winning the title for the first time in the history of Vietnamese pool under the World Nineball Tour (WNT) system.

In the opening minutes, Oscar Dominguez took the lead with the score at 8-4. However, Hoang successfully turned the tables on his US rival and won six games in a row, ending up in the 10-8 score.

This year saw the Scottish Open 2024 attract the participation of 104 billiards players from across the globe, including 10 of the world’s leading cueists.

Following the historic victory, Hoang brought home GBP10,000, equal to VND316 million.

He is scheduled to compete at the UK Open Pool Championship 2024 to take place in the UK from May 7 to 12.

The 36-year-old cueist is now at the same level as many globally renowned players, such as Ko Ping-Chung, Ko Pin-Yi, Joshua Filler, Jayson Shaw, Shane van Boening, Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, and Fedor Gorst after becoming the first Vietnamese cueist to join the World Professional Nineball Tour Corporation.
