Rowers win first gold medal for Vietnam at ASIAD 2018

VOV.VN - The women’s national rowing team won the first gold medal for the Vietnamese sport delegation, lifting the country 7 places to 13th position in the medal tally at the Asian Games 2018 (ASIAD) by 12am on August 23.

Vietnam’s women’s national rowing team of Ta Thanh Huyen, Luong Thi Thao, Ho Thi Ly and Pham Thi Thao, took first place in the women’s lightweight quadruple sculls event, clocking a time of 7:01.11.

The Iranian team came second with a time of 7:04.38. They were followed by the Republic of Korea on 7:06.22.

Previously, in the group stage, the four-member team performed strongly to win Group 2, while Iran topped Group 1.

Vietnam now has 1 gold medal (rowing), 4 silver medals (wushu and weightlifting), and 7 bronze medals (wushu, sepak takraw, shooting, swimming and taekwondo).
