SEA Games 31: Vietnam – Philippines match ends in goalless draw

VOV.VN - U23 Vietnam were held to a 0-0 draw with the Philippines in Group A match of the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) taking place at Viet Tri stadium in the northern province of Phu Tho on May 8.

Vietnam launched their second game of SEA Games 31 as strong as they notched up a 3-0 win against Indonesia two days ago.

Despite making tireless efforts, Vietnamese players carved out a number of scoring changes to get a goal against the Philippines.

The first half ended with no goals scored although Vietnam had two great chances to open scoring but all shots were inaccurate.

In the second half, head coach Park Hang-seo made some adjustments to the team in a bid to enable them to increase the pressure on the Philippines, with forward Nguyen Tien Linh having a few great chances to break the tie, but his efforts remained in vain.

In the end, the two teams left the field without scoring a goal.

The goalless draw means both team have got four points each after their second games. The Philippines stays atop Group A trailing Vietnam behind in second position, with three goals scored in the first game.

U23 Vietnam are set to play with Myanmar on May 13.
