Vietnam continue winning streak at Chess Olympiad

VOV.VN -Vietnam’s male and female chess players scored third round wins over Bangladesh and Lithuania at the 2018 Chess Olympiad ongoing in Batumi, Georgia on September 26.

The male team (seed No.27) beat Bangladesh (seed No.64) 3.5-0.5. Le Quang Liem, Truong Son, and Tuan Minh secured their wins while Nguyen Anh Khoi (Elo 2463) was held to a draw with his rival Enamul Hossain (Elo 2452).

After three rounds, Vietnam had 24 points, temporarily putting them in 9th place.

They will meet the French team (seed No.7) in the fourth round.

Vietnam’s female team (seed No.19) also defeated their Lithuanian opponents (seed No.34) 3.5-0.5.

Vo Thi Kim Phung (Elo 2368) drew with her rival Deimante (Elo 2462) while Pham Le Thao Nguyen, Hoang Thi Bao Tram, and Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong won their games.

The team now stands in 8th position with 22 points. They will next face the team of the host country, Georgia (seed No.4).
