Vietnam Embassy hosts ‘Sports Festival’ in Beijing

(VOV) - On October 1, more than 200 Vietnamese and Chinese students from 26 universities in Beijing and 10 universities in Tianjin gathered at the Vietnam Embassy in Beijing for the kick-off of a week-long biennial Sports Festival.

“Sports instils good human virtues and moral values in youth as well as teaches them to be disciplined and competitive,” said Minister Counsellor Nguyen Hoai Anh of the Vietnam Embassy to China at the opening.

Anh wished all the students a fun filled week, hoping they would compete in the spirit of sportsmanship with fairness, ethics, respect, and a sense of fellowship with one's competitors.

Also on hand for the event were large numbers of staff members and families of the Vietnam Embassy along with Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) family members from representative offices.

The sports festival has really become a special event for students who look forward to competing in such events as tug-of-war, football, track-and-field, table-tennis and badminton, said Minister Counsellor Anh.
