Vietnam female boxers seek Olympic slots in Kazakhstan

Vietnamese female boxers hope to have tickets to the Rio Olympics in 2016 via the World Boxing Championships, an Olympic qualifying round, to be held in Kazakhstan ton May 19.

The team includes Southeast Asian Games champions Luu Thi Duyen, LeThi Bang and national champion Ngo Thi Chung.

Duyen, who ranked third in the recent Asian zone Olympic qualifier in China, will compete in the women’s 60kg class, Bang will take part in the women’s 54kg pool, while Chung partakes in 75kg category.

To prepare for the event, Duyen and Chung have had training sessions in Vietnam under the guidance of Thai coach, meanwhile Bang underwent intensive practice in the US.

The tournament will run until May 27.
