Vietnamese athletes come fourth at Asian Jujitsu Championships

VOV.VN - Local athletes were placed in fourth in the medal tally at the Asian Jujitsu Championships 2024 which concluded on May 6 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The four gold medals went to Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc in the women’s 70kg contact event, Phung Thi Hue in the women’s 45kg contact and 45kg fighting events, and Hoang Thi Nhat Que in the women’s 70kg contact event.

The Vietnamese team also secured a silver medal in the men’s 56kg contact event through Dao Hong Son. In addition, they also obtained six more silver medals and 10 bronze medals.

Thailand topped the medal tally after grabbing a total of 13 gold, seven silver, and seven bronze medals. Kazakhstan were placed in second position after they bagged 12 gold, 18 silver, and 16 bronze medals.

Also in the UAE, Vietnamese athletes ranked second in the medal tally of the Asian Youth Championships after winning five gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.

The Asian Jujitsu Championships represents the first global tournament involving the Vietnamese team this year. The UAE tournament is an important warm-up for the upcoming 33rd Southeast Asian Games in 2025.
