Vietnam’s U16 team suffer 2-4 loss to Indonesia

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s U16 football team fell to a 2-4 defeat by their Indonesian counterparts in the third match of Group A at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-16 Championship on August 2.

Although the team of Vietnamese head coach Vu Hong Viet opened the scoring, Indonesia hit back quickly to make it 1-1 in the first half.

After the break, Indonesia launched a series of incisive attacks, scoring 3 goals in rapid succession. Vietnam’s U16 team were dealt a 2-4 defeat in the final.

Vietnam’s U16 team now has 6 points and stands in third position in Group A.

After tasting victory over Myanmar and Vietnam, the Indonesian team are sure-fire bets to win a place in the semi-final round. The second place in the semi-finals of Group A will be see Vietnam U16s play Myanmar.

To earn a place in the semi-finals, Vietnam’s U16 team must take a big win over the Philippines in the fourth match, and then beat Myanmar in the final match of the group stage.

Vietnam’s U16 team will play the Philippines at 3:30pm on August 4, before playing Myanmar at 3:30pm on August 6.
