Vietnam’s women win silver at Asian team chess championship

The Vietnamese women’s team won a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Team Chess Championship held in Iran from July 26 to August 4.

Despite losing to China in the very first match, the team improved their performance when competing against Uzbekistan, India and Kazakhstan. 

Grandmasters Pham Le Thao Nguyen and Nguyen Thi Mai Hung got 4.5 points and 5 points, respectively, helping the team gain 11 points after 7 rounds to get the silver. 

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese men’s team only ranked 10th among 14 participating teams.
