Chinese travelers return to Khanh Hoa post pandemic

VOV.VN - VietJet Air flight VJ5317 brought more than 200 Chinese citizens to Khanh Hoa province, a tourist destination in central Vietnam, on January 23 the second day of the lunar New Year Festival.

Welcoming the guests at Cam Ranh international airport, local authorities presented them flowers and lucky money put inside a red envelope – a customary practice of Vietnamese people for visitors during the lunar New Year holiday.

It is expected that from January 23 to March 23, 2023, budget airline VietJet Air will operate about 35 flights to bring Chinese tourists from Anhui, Hunan and Sichuan to Nha Trang city of Khanh Hoa province. On average there will be 4-5 flights a week bringing between 180-220 Chinese tourists each.

Before the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, Chinese tourists had topped the list of foreign visitors to Khanh Hoa before the the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. Accordingly, the Vietnamese province welcomed more than 2.5 million Chinese tourists in 2019, accounting for more than 70% of international tourists to the locality.

The local tourism industry has set a target of receiving about four million tourists in 2023, including 1.5 million international visitors, and earning VND21,000 billion in revenue from tourism services.
