Japan relaxes requirements of short-term stay visa for Vietnamese

Japan decided to ease short-term visa requirements to nationals of Vietnam and India from February 15, announced the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 2.

The ministry said the relaxation of visa requirements allows multiple entries for the holder of a short-term stay visa, which permits a stay of up to 90 days.

Those eligible to the relaxation are businessmen, intellectuals, and cultural scholars who travel to Japan for business purposes.

In addition, the period of validity will be extended from five years to up to 10 years.

It is the first time Japan has issued multiple-entry visas with a 10 year validity period.

The decision is part of the country’s effort to enhance people-to-people exchanges between Japan and the two countries. It is also expected to help improve convenience in business activities and increase the number of tourists from Vietnam and India to Japan.
