1,457 new infections recorded with no fatalities over 24 hours
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health confirmed a total of 1,457 fresh COVID-19 cases across 33 cities and provinces nationwide on May 21, thereby pushing the overall number of national infections to more than 10.7 million.
During the last week, the daily average stood at 1,645 cases, while the daily average death toll was at two.
Over the past 24 hours, no deaths were reported to keep the overall fatality number unchanged at 43,044, or 0.4% of the country’s total infections.
A further 3,069 COVID-19 patients were declared to be free from the disease to push up the number of recoveries so far to 9,393,101.
As part of the latest wave that began in April last year, over 10.69 million cases have been reported with 9.39 million already recovering.
Since the start of the pandemic, the country has recorded 10,707,568 infections, ranking 12th out of 227 countries and territories globally. In addition, in terms of the ratio of infections per million people the nation ranks 104 out of 227 countries and territories, with an average of 108,196 infections for per one million people.
As of May 19, the country had injected more than 219 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including 17.4 million doses for children between the ages of 12 and 17 years old.
