Seminar expounds on Confucianism in modern society
VOV.VN - A seminar on July 25 in Ho Chi Minh City examined Confucian political thought and its contemporary relevance from a perspective that explored the intricate interplay between political ideal and reality.
The ideal conception of Confucian thought is not likely to work in the real world of today, said Dr Tran Ngoc Them from University of Social Sciences and Humanities, but it is still highly relevant.
Dr Them explained it is important to grasp how a non-ideal conception of order still tallies with the Confucian ideal.
In other words, the challenge is to maintain a proper interplay between ideal and reality that will lead to a much better understanding of the dynamics of political relationships and human rights respectively.
The event was held by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the East-West Research Centre and, Hawaii University, China Research Centre and Vietnam National University.
