Vietnam jumps six places in FIFA rankings

(VOV) - The Vietnamese men’s football team climbed six notches to 136th in the latest International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) rankings released on October 23.

The country ranked 20th overall in Asia and second in Southeast Asia.

The Philippines topped the list in Southeast Asia followed by Vietnam (136th in the world), Myanmar (137th), Laos (154th), Malaysia (156th), Indonesia (157th), Singapore (161st) and Thailand (165th).

In the world rankings, Germany came in first. Argentina and Colombia placed second and third respectively. Portugal returned the top 10 in 9th position. Italy dropped out of the top 10 down to 11th.

In the coming time, the Vietnam football squad is set to attend some friendly matches and official matches at the AFF Cup.

The next rankings will be announced by FIFA on November 27.
