Ambassador upbeat about growing Vietnam-Spain strategic partnership
VOV.VN - Economic co-operation, trade, and investment between the nation and Spain are growing steadily, with both side’s trade turnover in recent years reaching roughly US$3 billion, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to Spain Hoang Xuan.
The 76th anniversary of the National Day on September 2 was celebrated by the Vietnamese Embassy in Spain on September 1, with the occasion featuring the participation of the honorary consul of Vietnam in Seville. This is in addition to representatives of the Vietnamese community residing in Madrid along with all Vietnamese embassy officers and staff.
Upon addressing the celebration, Ambassador Hai highlighted the great significance of September 2 and the glorious feats in the process of national construction and defence over the past 76 years. Most notably, the nation's tremendous achievements in the process of renovation, international integration, and national development over the past 35 years also deserve recognition.
These achievements have served to boost Vietnamese development and transform the nation into a dynamic developing country which has significantly improved people's material and spiritual life, while the nation's position and prestige is increasingly being elevated in the international arena.
The Vietnamese Ambassador also reviewed the development process of mutual relations since they set up diplomatic ties on May 23, 1977, and upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership looking towards the future in 2009.
Spain currently has 80 investment projects worth over US$134 million in the nation, ranking 46th out of 140 countries and territories investing in the Vietnamese market. Many areas of co-operation between both sides are also in the process of gradually being expanded.
At the end of his speech, Ambassador Hai emphasised the embassy staff's determination to successfully fulfil external political tasks assigned by the Party and State. This is in addition to striving to develop the Vietnam-Spain strategic partnership in a substantive and practical manner whilst developing a united and strong community towards the homeland.
