Vietnam stun RoK 5-2 in AFC Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers’ final match
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese futsal team clinched an outstanding 5-2 victory over the Republic of Korea (RoK) in their final match of Group D on October 11 during the qualifiers of the 2024 AFC Futsal Asian Cup.
From the opening whistle both teams showed plenty of intent to attack and score the opening goal.
Duong Ngoc Linh eventually opened the scoring in the 14th minute, with Nhan Gia Hung doubling the score two minutes later.
The Korean players pulled one back to make it 2-1 in the opening minutes of the second set.
The Vietnamese players then scored three more goals before the RoK scored a consolation goal, with the final score of 5-2 for both team’s final match of the group stage.
Vietnam finish first in Group D with the RoK in second, with both therefore winning places to compete in the final round of the 2024 AFC Futsal Asian Cup which is scheduled to get underway in Thailand from April 17 to April 28, 2024.
The 2024 AFC Futsal Asian Cup finals will also serve as the qualifying round of the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
The Vietnamese team have played in two FIFA Futsal World Cups before, in 2016 and 2020, reaching the knockout-stage in both tournaments.
At the most recent World Cup, they ended their campaign in the round of 16. They are now placed 39th in the global rankings.
