Hanoi keen to ramp up co-operation with Nordic capitals

VOV.VN - Chu Ngoc Anh, chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, joined with Quist Thomasen, vice president of the Nordic Chamber of Commerce (NordCham) in Vietnam, to discuss the activities of Nordic companies in the capital, along with the possibility of boosting relations between Hanoi and the capitals of Nordic countries.

During the meeting held on April 16 with the guest from NordCham, the Hanoi Mayor stated that the capital invites Nordic companies to learn about the local investment environment and business opportunities. Anh added that there are high hopes ahead for greater engagement in investment, trade, tourism, smart cities, and e-government building, along with green technology, energy, sustainable development, technology transfer, and human resources training.

The Vietnamese capital is also willing to establish and expand co-operation ties with the capitals of Nordic countries in order to contribute to deepening the traditional relations between both sides, he said.

The municipal People’s Committee will therefore direct relevant departments to work alongside Nordic enterprises who are keen to find co-operation opportunities in the nation, along with discussing co-operation possibilities with Nordic cities with a view towards the signing of related agreements.

In response, Thomasen affirmed the readiness of Nordic companies to share their experience as a means of helping Hanoi with the green city development process and to achieve more efficient energy use.

He therefore suggested that the capital put in place specific mechanisms aimed at facilitating connections between enterprises and co-operation between the city and Nordic companies.

Thomasen also expressed hope that NordCham will have the chance to work alongside relevant offices based in Hanoi to deal with various problems related to the work permits of their staff.
