Sub-committee discusses documentary preparations for coming Party Congress

In his speech at the meeting, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong highlighted the importance of the 14th Party Congress that will review 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, 35 years of implementing the 1991 Platform of national construction in transition to socialism, and five years of implementing the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress.

The congress, he said, will also examine lessons to be drawn, and set out development directions, goals, and tasks of Vietnam in the following five years, as well as continuing to successfully implement the 2021-2030 socio-economic development strategy.

The preparation of documents for the 14th Congress, especially the political report, must be conducted seriously, qualitatively and scientifically, to ensure they fully reflect the country’s new reality, said Trong who is also head of the sub-committee on documents.

He noted that the drafting of documents requires close connection between theoretical research and a review of practical development in all fields, with a primary focus on firmly building the Party and political system, and forming synchronous institutions for rapid and sustainable development of the country based on the socialist-oriented market economy, the law-governed socialist State, and socialist democracy.

It's important to clarify what guidelines and policies have been confirmed to be correct and appropriate in reality and which ones need to be supplemented and developed, stressed the Party leader.

He asked members of the sub-committee and especially the drafting board to make all-out efforts to complete work with high quality and on schedule.

The Communist Party of Vietnam is scheduled to hold the 14th congress in January 2026. Five sub-committees have been formed to make preparations for the congress.
