Plenty of room for trade co-operation with Shandong province

VOV.VN - A conference was held on March 13 in Hanoi to promote trade and investment activities between Vietnam and China’s Shandong locality.

The event took place as part of activities held under the national trade promotion programme in 2024, with the ultimate aim of accelerating the official exports of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products, as well as other advantageous products to Shandong province in particular and China in general.

The function draw the participation of a total of 86 firms from Shandong province and 130 Vietnamese enterprises which are currently operating in the spheres of agriculture, processed food, logistics, construction, and investment.

Upon addressing the event, Vu Ba Phu, director of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade), emphasised that Shandong province is a leading locality in terms of China's wider economic development strategy.

Last year saw the two-way trade turnover between Shandong and the nation reach US$10.9 billion, making up about 4.8% of total trade turnover between the two nations.

As part of efforts to fully tap into the potential of both sides, Phu asked Shan Dong’s authorities to create the optimal conditions possible for businesses to further get involved in trade promotion activities.

These activities are anticipated to expand the scale of investment whilst strengthening the exchange of high-quality products such as fruits, seafood, agricultural products, processed foods, beverages, textiles and garments from Vietnam, as well as mechanical machinery, electronics, and chemical products from Shandong.
