Saigon International Guitar Festival to feature local and international soloists

VOV.VN - Dozens of international and local string soloists will put on four concerts during the course of annual Saigon International Guitar Festival in Ho Chi Minh City from November 1 to November 4.

The opening concert “Carnaval de Guitare” on November 1 is set to feature special performances from the Festival Guitar Ensemble and the Saigon Guitar Quartet, as well as the Japanese couple of guitarist Toru Kobayashi and mandolinist Mai Hayashi.

Furthermore, the second concert named “East meets West” will enchant audiences with rustic classical guitar melodies.

During the concert, four talented Japanese guitarists Watanabe Mihoko, Kazuo Nishimoto, Etsuko Nishimoto, and Gen Matsuda, will perform classical guitar songs by notable composers around the world.

The third concert Timeless Melodies will then feature outstanding performances by two master guitarists. Paulo Inda embodies the dynamism and enthusiasm of Brazil, while Gérard Abiton's sophisticated and talented guitar-playing style symbolises the charm of France.

On the last day of Saigon International Guitar Festival 2023, the audience will get the opportunity to meet outstanding Polish female guitarist Katarzyna Smolarek and leading Czech guitarist Leon Koudelak.

They will engage the audience through passionate and intense Baroque music performances.

Furthermore, a series of high-quality concerts at the event will also provide a range of valuable programmes, such as masterclasses, workshops, and lectures that will be open to visitors free of charge.

Students and tourists will be able to learn and share with global classical guitar professionals, such as Paulo Inda of Brazil, Gen Matsuda of Japan, and Leon Koudelak of the Czech Republic.

Moreover, those interested in classical guitar will also have the chance to attend the lecture led by famous Japanese luthier Yuchi Imai.
