The 19th HCM City Television Cycling Tournament ended at the Thong Nhat (Unification) Palace on April 30 after nearly two weeks of competition in 13 races across Vietnamese provinces and cities and neighbouring Lao localities.

The event was part of activities to mark the 32nd anniversary of Southern Liberation Day (April 30).

 

Racers from Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK) won three prizes, including yellow jersey for the final leg, red jersey – king of the mountain, and winning team.

 

Vietnamese athletes faced tough competition this year due to the participation of strong rivals from the RoK and Malaysia.

 

Three top prizes for individuals went to RoK racers, namely Oh Se Young who clocked at 35 hours 38 minutes 6 seconds, Gong Hyo Suk (35 hours 39 minutes 4 seconds) and Lee Won Yae (35 hours 39 minutes 41 seconds).

 

Three Vietnamese racers, Mai Cong Hieu, Trinh Phat Dat and Nguyen Nam Cuc, were among the top ten leading racers in the final leg. In particular, Nguyen Mai Hung secured the fifth place in the final race, winning the best young racer title with the white jersey, while his teammate Do Tuan Anh ranked ninth, securing the green jersey for finishing first in the four legs of the race.

 

The Seoul team was awarded the first team prize with total time of 106 hours, 54 minutes and 14 seconds, followed by the Domesco Dong Thap Vinasun team with 107 hours, 10 minutes and 3 seconds and Vinamit with 106 hours, 54 minutes and 14 seconds. Domesco Dong Thap Vinasun also won the best style prize.
