Vietnam-Indonesia Friendship Night in focus

The program “The Friendship Night of Vietnam and Indonesia” is co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam, to celebrate 65 years of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Indonesia.

The program was attended by Nguyen The Ky, member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, President of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam Ta Quang Dong and many other delegates.

The traditional friendship and close partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia founded before 1945 has stood the test of time and developed significantly over the years.

In his address, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong highlights Indonesia’s important position and role in the region, adding the Indonesian people are peace lovers and always feel good affection to the Vietnamese people. The Vietnam-Indonesia traditional friendship has been constantly consolidated and strengthened over the past 65 years.

Dong says 2020 has been selected as the Year of ASEAN Identity. The freshly concluded 37th ASEAN Summit in Hanoi has adopted the Narrative of ASEAN Identity shows the bloc’s commitment to realizing a rules-based, people-oriented, people-centered ASEAN of “One Vision, One Identity, One Community”.

Addressing the function, Ambassador Ibnu Hadi emphasizes that Indonesia is the first ASEAN state that has established diplomatic ties with Vietnam and is the third among 11 countries around the world that recognized Vietnam as an independent state. The historic reciprocal visits by Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Indonesia President Soekarno in 1959 laid a solid foundation for the bilateral relationship that should be promoted and passed on to the future generations of the two countries.

The cultural program is aimed at promoting the diverse cultures of ASEAN, contributing to strengthening exchanges and mutual understanding between the two countries, as well as further developing the Vietnam-Indonesia strategic partnership.

Throughout the night, the audience are treated to special art performances together with traditional folk pieces staged by artists from the two countries.

Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi joined a female Vietnamese singer in a special performance featuring a couple falling in love in the moonlight.

The performances have left a fine impression on the audience present at the show. VOV President Nguyen The Ky and other officials presented flowers to artists and post for a photo.
