HCM City begins COVID-19 vaccinations for children on Oct. 27
VOV.VN - Over 3,000 students aged 16 and 17 in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 and Cu Chi district are set to be injected with a COVID-19 vaccine on a trial basis on October 27, the municipal Department of Health said on October 26.
This will mark the first locality in Vietnam to implement a pilot vaccination scheme for children.
According to Cu Chi district, the first 1,500 children will be vaccinated at only one injection site. Meanwhile, District 1 will pilot the campaign, with 1,600 children receiving their first shot at Luong The Vinh High School, Ernst Thälmann High School, and District 1 Hospital.
Following the pilot day, the remaining 6,600 students in District 1 will be given the COVID-19 vaccine across five injection sites.
Moreover, roughly 14,000 students from grades six to nine in District 1 will continue to be injected with the vaccine at 10 injection sites.
The campaign is expected to be completed within eight days.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has approximately 780,000 children aged between 12 to 17. A recent survey conducted by the municipal Department of Education and Training indicates that 92% of parents have agreed with vaccinations for their children.
