Mr Hieu made the remark in Hanoi on August 25 during his meeting with the visiting vice chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, Defence, Communication and Information under the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sidarto Danusubroto.

Vietnam and Indonesia have boosted personnel training and the exchange of visits by delegations in national defence and the two navies will conduct joint sea patrols in the future, the deputy minister said.

Mr Sidarto pledged to do his best to strengthen the long-standing traditional solidarity and friendship between the two parliaments, governments, armies and people of Indonesia and Vietnam.
