Thu advances at badminton world champs
Vu Thi Anh Thu of Vietnam made a big bang at the Badminton World Federation Junior Championships, beating No. 8 seed Aakarshi Kashyap of India on October 18 in Indonesia.

Unseeded Thư beat Kashyap 21-16, 21-18 in a 25-minute match in the women’s singles category.
She will next meet Aurum Oktavia Witana of Indonesia, who won 21-12, 21-6 against Sin Jou Eng of Malaysia in the other last-16 match on October 18.
Thư was earlier ousted from the doubles event when she and partner Nguyen Hai Dang lost in the third round.
All the other Vietnamese athletes were ousted from the world event, which ends on October 22.
