The 24th SEA Games kicked off in Thailand on the evening of December 6.

The official torch was lighted up at the centre of the Nakhon Ratchasima sport complex by two outstanding athletes of Thailand namely Ruriya Prasathinpimai, a boxing bronze medallist and Udomporn Polssak, a weightlifting gold medallist in the Athens Olympic.

 

In preparation for the event, the organizing board had mobilized 7,500 police to do their duty at the opening ceremony. The price of an entrance ticket was VND300,000-700,000.

 

Thai famous pop singer Tata Young presented the official song “Rhythm of the Winner”. Earlier, she had been chosen to perform the official song of the VKC Asian Cup 2007.
