A ground-breaking ceremony for a high-tech clinic at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (VDH) was held in Hanoi on September 15.

At the ceremony, Minister of Health Nguyen Quoc Trieu asked the hospital and relevant parties to strengthen supervision, ensure technical and design requirements and reduce the construction time to put the clinic into operation as soon as possible.

Under a project to expand VDH, the clinic sits on a site of 27,600 sq.m at 40 Trang Thi street and is scheduled for completion in the next 25 months. It will include an organ transplant centre, 25 modern surgery rooms, anaesthesia and recuperation rooms, and an image diagnosis centre.

Earlier, VDH and Vietnam Development Bank signed a borrowing contract worth about VND550 billion for the VDH expansion project and a project to enhance treatment capacity and training.

VDH currently has 900 beds and will have 50 more beds added this year. The high-tech clinic is expected to provide 300 beds.
