HCM City ramps up co-operation with RoK’s Busan

VOV.VN - A delegation made up of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council, led by Nguyen Thi Le in her role as chairwoman, is paying a working visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) from September 19 to September 24, according to the Sai Gon Giai phong (liberated Saigon) newspaper.

In a courtesy call made to Park Jung Muk, standing vice chairman of the Busan Metropolitan Council, Le said she hopes that Busan will encourage local businesses to seek partnership opportunities in Vietnam, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City. She vowed that the Vietnamese city will offer the best conditions possible for Korean firms to operate in, while in response Park expressed his belief in the sides’ stronger and more active co-operation across fields.

The Vietnamese official thanked Busan for its assistance provided to the southern metropolis during a COVID-19 outbreak last year and suggested that the cities seek to increase their discussion and collaboration regarding smart urban development.

September 19 also saw the delegation hold a working session with the management board of the Busan Eco Delta Smart City project.

Le said that Ho Chi Minh City’s authorities have approved a programme towards 2025 on building the southern city into a smart metropolis and expressed her hope that the board will join the city in development efforts in the future.

A visit to the Honorary Consul General of Vietnam in Busan made by the delegation took place on the same day, during which Le noted that the two cities have capitalised on their resources and strength to grow together and pointed to tremendous room for further co-operation.

Busan is among the seven RoK localities which have established twinning and co-operation relations with Ho Chi Minh City.

The Busan Metropolitan Council, meanwhile, is one of two of its kind in the RoK, securing friendship and collaboration ties with the People’s Council of the southern Vietnamese hub.
