Another bronze medal for Vietnam at ASIAD Hangzhou

VOV.VN - A Taekwondo martial artist brought another bronze medal for Vietnam at the ongoing 19th Asian Games (ASIAD) in Hangzhou, China, on September 24.

Tran Ho Duy (Vietnam) played Kang Wan-jin (Republic of Korea) in the men’s individual poomsae semi-finals, and he accepted defeat to the Korean opponent in the end at 7.120 – 7.140.

Duy earlier beat Moghis Wahid Khalil I (Saudi Arabia) in the quarterfinals and Chan Chung Yin (Hong Kong) in Round 16.

Meanwhile, another Vietnamese Taekwondo martial artist Nguyen Thi Kim Ha also accepted defeat to Cha Yea-eun, another martial artist of the Republic of Korea, in the women’s individual poomsae class in Round 16.

On September 25, Truong Kim Tuyen, a Taekwondo hopeful of Vietnam, will flex her muscle in the women’s 49kg combat. She will compete in Round 16 together with several powerful opponents, including defending Olympic 2020 champion Pannipak Wongpattanakit (Thailand).

Vietnam won a bronze medal in the women’s rowing heavy weight single scull on September 24 morning. Four rowers Dinh Thi Hao, Du Thi Bong, Ha Thi Vui and Pham Thi Hue finished third, bringing home the first medal for Vietnam at ASIAD 19.

On competition day 1, Vietnamese athletes are competing in 14 sports - shooting, boxing, men’s football, table tennis, swimming, chess, fencing, e-sports, judo, rowing, taekwondo, tennis, and gymnastics, and wushu.
