Vietnam boosts cooperation with Angola

VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh phoned Angolan Foreign Minister Téte António on November 23 to exchange views on bilateral cooperation as well as coordination at multilateral forums.

Both sides highly appreciated the fine development of the traditional friendship that has stood the test of time for the past 45 years.

Minh noted that Vietnam was proud to be one of the first countries in the world to recognize the independence and establish diplomatic relations with Angola 45 years ago.

He congratulated Angola on its achievements in national reconciliation, political stability, socio-economic development as well as on its efforts to respond to epidemics in recent years.

For his part, António expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s development achievements in the past decades, considering Vietnam as a model for Angola to follow suit. He also valued Vietnam’s role as ASEAN Chair in 2020 and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2020-2021.

Both sides agreed that bilateral cooperation is yet on a par with the two countries’ good political relationship as well as the potential and needs of each party. They vowed to continue to work closely to deepen their political-diplomatic relations, and at the same time expand cooperation in other fields, especially trade, investment, agriculture, health, education among others.

Both sides also pledged to actively coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations. They exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
