Vietnamese volleyballers triumph at AVC Challenge Cup 2023

VOV.VN - Vietnamese women volleyballers defeated their Indonesian hosts 3-2 on June 25 evening, winning the 2023 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenge Cup and qualifying for the FIVB Women's Challenge Cup.

Encountering strong opponents, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet sent in the best players, including setter Doan Thi Lam Oanh, libero Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, and outside hitters Dinh Thi Tra Giang, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh and Nguyen Thi Trinh.

In the first set, Vietnamese women easily beat their Indonesian opponents 25-18. However, their hosts earned an equalizer in the second set (27-25) and outplayed the visitors 25-21 in the third set.

Running into difficulty, Vietnamese women flexed their muscle, outperforming their hosts in the last two sets and winning the championship title.

This is the hardest match of the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team at the tournament. They had all clinched 3-0 wins from group matches to the semi-finals.

In the recent encounter, Vietnam won 3-2 Indonesia in the semifinals of women’s volleyball at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.

Winning the 2023 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenge Cup has sent Vietnam to the FIVB Women's Challenge Cup to be held in France from July 27 to 30.
