Consultation session aims to bolster Vietnamese coffee exports to China
VOV.VN - A consultation session is scheduled to be held on July 28 via both online and offline platforms as part of ways to boost the export of local coffee products to the Chinese market.
The event is to be jointly held by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency and Vietnamese Consulate General in Shanghai, along with Vietnamese Trade Offices in China.
During the consultation session, representatives of the Chongqing Coffee Association and some coffee importers based in China are expected to brief Vietnamese enterprises on market demand, consumption trends, and issues related to regulations on coffee imports.
Statistics compiled by market research firm Mordor Intelligence indicate that the northern neighbour’s coffee market is forecast to grow at an average of 10.42% annually throughout the 2022 to 2027 period.
According to details given by the China Coffee Association Beijing (CCAB), coffee consumption in the Chinese market is increasing at an annual rate of 15%, with the major suppliers to this market being Guatemala, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Brazil.
The Vietnam Coffee-Cocoa Association said that China has been the biggest consumer of Vietnamese coffee since 2018, with the northern neighbour rising from 12th position in 2018 to the eighth largest importer of Vietnamese coffee last year.
Experts point out that the Vietnamese coffee industry needs to actively improve product design and quality as it seeks to meet the rising demand among consumers and increase its market share, which is highly competitive.
Moreover, local businesses are able to utilize social media platforms and online distribution channels as a way of promoting and developing product brands.
