Vietnam defeat Laos 2-0 in SEA Games 32 opener

VOV.VN - Defending champions Vietnam began their SEA Games 32 campaign in Cambodia with a 2-0 victory over underdogs Laos at Prince stadium on April 30 evening.

Van Tung soon opened the scoring for Vietnam in the second minute with a header before Quoc Viet finished close to the goal to secure a 2-0 victory for Vietnam.

It seemed that Vietnamese players would have an easy game, but they faced strong resistance from their Lao opponents and sometimes stayed in a deadlock.

Meanwhile, Lao players performed rather well and they in some dangerous situations challenged goalkeeper Van Chuan who produced excellent saves.

This is a tough victory for coach Philippe Troussier’s players in their opening game. Vietnam got their first 3 points and shared Group B top position with Thailand that beat Singapore 3-1 in another match on the same day.
