Five Vietnamese nationals rescued near RoK’s Jeju Island

VOV.VN - The Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Coast Guard announced on March 1 that eight out of 10 crew members, including five from Vietnam, had been successfully rescued by a fishing boat after their fishing vessel capsized near the RoK’s Jeju Island.

According to information provided by Yonhap News Agency, the accident occurred at around 7:24 a.m. (local time), when the 33-tonne vessel capsized around 20 km away from Jeju’s Seogwipo City.

The agency also revealed that among the rescued sailors, a Korean national was pronounced dead at about 10:07 a.m.

The Korean Coast Guard also conducted search operations for the two missing crew members, including the captain. However, strong winds and high waves have so far hindered the operation, said Yonhap.
