Singaporean businesses are optimistic about the inviting prospect for economic development in Vietnam, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City, said visiting Senior Minister of Singapore Goh Chok Tong at a meeting with Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan on December 14.

Chairman Quan and Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong exchanged views on measures and experiences in inflation control, urban management and mobilising capital mobilisation for infrastructure development, international cooperation in human resource training.


Both sides agreed on the need to promote bilateral ties, in the framework of regional cooperation.


While in Hue city the same day, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong visited some historical relics, including palaces and tombs of Kings Nguyen, and worked with the leadership of Thua Thien-Hue province.


Learning about the geographical conditions and socio-economic development of the central province, especially the development of the Chan May-Lang Co economic zone and Phu Bai international airport, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong highly appreciated the achievements of the province, particularly in the cultural and tourism field, saying he wished to contribute to building Hue city into a service and tourism centre of Vietnam and a convention centre of Southeast Asia and the world.
