As many as 1,177 traffic accidents occurred throughout the country in February, killing 1,027 people and injuring 921 others, according to the Road and Railway Traffic Police Department.

Twelve serious accidents took place in February, claiming 37 lives and causing 38 injured. As the demand for passenger transport increased sharply during the Lunar New Year holiday, many passenger car drivers carried too many passengers, violating safe transport regulations.

In February, the transport police also cited more than 7,400 traffic order violations.
