The two leaders agreed to convene the 8th meeting of the Vietnam-Myanmar joint committee for bilateral cooperation in Myanmar and the 7th political consultation between the two Foreign Ministries.

Both sides agreed to enhance the exchange of delegations and high-level contacts, create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest in Myanmar, especially in oil and gas, banking and tourism.

They acknowledged the two countries’ good cooperation at regional and international forums, especially ACMECS, CLMV, GMS and EWEC.

They agreed to work closely together with other ASEAN member states to further strengthen solidarity and build an ASEAN Community in 2015 as scheduled, while finding common ground over regional and international issues, including the East Sea issue.

While meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, PM Dung congratulated Indonesia on the success of its recent parliamentary election. He highly valued Yudhoyono’s role in promoting Vietnam-Indonesia relations, marked by the June 2013 establishment of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Dung and Yudhoyono agreed to effectively realise the 2014-2018 joint action plan, convene the second meeting of the Joint Committee for bilateral cooperation in 2014, and prepare well for the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2015.

They noted with satisfaction the close cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia at regional and international forums, especially ASEAN and the United Nations, and affirmed both countries will cooperate closely with other ASEAN member states to meet the target of building a united ASEAN Community in 2015.

At the meeting, President Yudhoyono voiced his concern over the escalating tensions in the East Sea and said all disputes must be settled peacefully.

Indonesia is willing to coordinate with Vietnam and relevant parties to find suitable solutions to this issue, he said.
