Party leader and President of Laos begins visit to Vietnam
VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith is set to begin his official visit to Vietnam from June 28-29, an event that indicates the great friendship and special solidarity between the two nations.
This is the first overseas trip by Thongloun Sisoulith in his capacity as Lao Party General Secretary and President for the 2021-2026 tenure. It is also the first high-ranking Party and State delegation of Laos to visit Vietnam after the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).
During the visit, the top Lao leader is scheduled to hold talks with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, meet with President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue.
He will have a host of meetings with former Party and State leaders of Vietnam, give a speech at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, and receive the President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, leaders of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association, and the Liaison Committee of Vietnamese Volunteers and Military Experts in Laos.
Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife are accompanied by officials of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, leaders of the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, and the Ministry of Public Security. The two sides will discuss a score of measures aimed at further promoting the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
The visit is seen as a contribution to both nations’ foreign policies of attaching great importance to preserving and constantly developing the great friendship, special solidarity and all-around cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the time to come.
