Prudential Foundation on December 29 granted 36 scholarships totalling US$86,000 to poor Vietnamese students with outstanding academic achievements.

This is the first activity under the foundation’s programme to present 120 scholarships to Vietnamese students in the 2008-2010 period.

The scholarship winners will attend two-year software programming courses which are scheduled to start on December 31 at FPT Aptech-Hanoi, Aptech-Hai Phong and Aptech-Thanh Hoa.

The foundation was established by Prudential Corp. in 2003 with initial capital of US$1.3 million. It is aimed at supporting Vietnam’s foreign language and information technology training programmes.

After a six-year operation in Vietnam, the foundation has engaged in training and developing young volleyball talents, holding training courses on business English and international commercial negotiation and granting IT scholarships to students.
