Three Iraqi soldiers were killed and eight wounded on Saturday when a roadside bomb struck an Iraqi army patrol in Baghdad, Interior Ministry sources said.

Insurgents often attack US-trained Iraqi security forces as part of a campaign to topple the Shi'ite- and Kurdish-led government.

In another development, two US Marines were killed and 22 wounded in combat against insurgents in Anbar province in western Iraq on Thursday, the US military said on Saturday. The military issued a statement on the casualties but gave no details on the fighting.

More than 2,370 U.S. troops have been killed since the U.S-led invasion of Iraq in March, 2003.
