Vietnam, Laos prepare for 43rd session of Intergovernmental Committee

VOV.VN - The Lao News Agency (KPL) has recently reported that two Lao - Vietnam, Vietnam - Laos cooperation committees have just held a conference to prepare for the 43rd session of the Laos - Vietnam Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee which is set to take place in early December.

The Lao News Agency (KPL) has recently reported that co-operation committees between the nation and Laos have just held a conference in order to prepare for the 43rd session of the Laos - Vietnam Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, with the event scheduled to take place in early December.

The event was held at the Namphao - Cau Treo border gate and was co-chaired by Khampheu Keokinnaly, vice chairman of the Laos - Vietnam Cooperation Committee, along with Nguyen Van Chung, deputy minister of Planning and Investment and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Committee. The pair were joined by over 80 officials from each nation’s relevant ministries and sectors.

During the course of the two-day conference which ran from November 20 to November 21, delegates expressed their great appreciation for the results of collaboration efforts between the two sides over the past year. In addition, those in attendance praised efforts to contain the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic as a means of preventing it from hampering the joint efforts between the two countries.

The two sides also discussed adjustments made to the content of the draft Laos - Vietnam, Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Strategy for the 10-year period from 2021 to 2030 and the five-year Cooperation Agreement from 2021 to 2025.

The two committees also reviewed and evaluated Laos-Vietnam investment co-operation for this year and set orientations ahead for next year's co-operation.

Furthermore, both sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to agree upon co-ordinating activities regarding the preparation of the content for this year's 43rd session of the Bilateral Cooperation Committee between the two governments.
