Over 300 Vietnamese citizens safely repatriated from Malaysia

VOV.VN - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines successfully carried out a repatriation flight from Malaysia on July 21 to bring home over 300 Vietnamese citizens left stranded due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

In order to safely conduct the flight, the journey was jointly ran by various Vietnamese authorities, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia, Vietnam Airlines, the Genting Company of Malaysia, along with competent authorities based in Malaysia.

The majority of passengers onboard the repatriation flight were minors under the age of 18, elderly people, pregnant women, tourists, and other individuals who faced difficult circumstances in Malaysia.

Ahead of the scheduled departure time, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia dispatched officials to the airport in an effort to assist citizens with all necessary measures before boarding.

As a means of protecting the health of passengers onboard and preventing the possible spread of the virus, Vietnam Airlines strictly implemented security, safety. and epidemiology measures throughout the duration of the flight.

After arriving at Can Tho International Airport, all passengers and crew members underwent mandatory medical check-ups before being subsequently transferred to quarantine facilities in line with regulations relating to COVID-19 prevention and control.

Under instructions issued by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vietnamese agencies, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad, and domestic airlines will continue to conduct flights in an effort to bring Vietnamese citizens based overseas back to the country.
