HCM City strengthens cooperation with Phnom Penh

VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City desires to promote cooperation in various fields with Cambodia, including tourism, education - training, and people-to-people exchanges.

Nguyen Van Nen, secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, was speaking at a reception on September 8 for Khuong Sreng, governor of Phnom Penh, who was in Vietnam for a visit.

He requested that the Phnom Penh administration continue to support and create conditions for Cho Ray - Phnom Penh Hospital to operate effectively, bringing practical benefits for Cambodian people, contributing to tightening the friendly cooperation relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh in particular, between Vietnam and Cambodia in general.

For his part, Khuong Sreng briefed the host on the results of his earlier talks with the HCM City government officials, saying both sides had agreed to enhance cooperation, especially in the fields of education – training, health care, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

The two sides need to strengthen the education of young generations to help them better understand, directly preserve and cultivate the long-standing friendship and good relationship between the two countries, he said.

He assured that the Phnom Penh government supports and creates favourable conditions for Cho Ray - Phnom Penh Hospital to expand operation so as to bring practical benefits for the people of Phnom Penh in particular and Cambodia in general.
