President Quang meets with Peru business leaders

Vietnam has a great culture and gastronomy, President Quang said in a prepared speech. It is a land of many business opportunities, he continued, adding that the Government is working hard to nurture the business environment to attract more foreign businesses to its shores.

The Southeast Asian nation has an economy that has experienced some of the highest growth in GDP of any country around the globe over recent years, primarily because of its dynamism for international trade.

Manufacturing, primarily of clothing and textiles, has been one of the main engines driving that growth. The nation also has comparative advantages in aquaculture including seafood and catfish farming as well as many agriculture segments.

Today, he said, he would like to invite the Peruvian business community to a place at the economic table of the country to boost economic commercial trade for the mutual benefit of the economies and peoples of both nations.

On the same day, President Quang and a high-level contingent of governmental officials and Vietnamese business leaders visited the branch offices of Viettel and the PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation located in Peru.

The main events of the APEC Leaders Week began with a Ministerial Meeting of foreign relations and trade ministers.  Foreign leaders already in Lima are the presidents of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam, and James Chu Yul Soong of Chinese Taipei.

President Barack Obama of the US is scheduled to arrive November 19 for the key events, at the same time as the presidents of China, Xi Jinping, and Vladimir Putin of Russia.
