The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held an annual conference on October 24 for the Government and donors to review the implementation of the National Target Program for Rural Water and Sanitation (NTP3).

At the conference, Danish ambassador John Nielsen acknowledged Vietnam’s efforts in this field and pledged to continue supporting the country in carrying out the NTP3.

He noted that Vietnam should accelerate progress of this project because if no updated agreement is signed soon, Denmark will not be able to provide Vietnam with loans in 2012.

Other donors from Australia and the UK agreed to continue their sponsorship of the project, emphasizing issues related to sanitation, management, and the project implementation process.

At the conclusion of the conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dao Xuan Hoc, said his ministry will join hands with other sectors to ensure additional capital for the project.

The ministry will also tackle issues related to State mechanisms so as to provide favourable conditions for its operations.

The ministry is also proposing that all schools and public buildings places have toilets and clean water by 2012.
