The Vietnamese Olympic Football Team will leave for Tokyo on August 19 to play against its Japanese rivals as part of the qualifying round of the Beijing Olympic Games 2008.
All the Vietnamese footballers have bags of potential and they have been trained in different tactics to cope with stronger Japanese players, said Vietnam’s coach Alfred Riedl.
The team’s preliminary lineup includes Van Thanh, Van Vinh, Anh Duong, and half-backs Thanh Phuc and Duc Nhan, who performed well in the recent V-League and Southeast Asian U20 tournaments.
