1,000 outstanding young Party members gathered at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi on January 31 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3).

This was part of activities organised by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to mark the 80th Party anniversary and the 1,000 anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Addressing the meeting, Pham Quang Nghi, Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee and member of the Party Political Bureau, praised significant contributions by young Party members to the city’s development.

He emphasised that the capital city is making thorough preparations for its millennium anniversary and needs active participation and contributions from young Party members nationwide in order to build Hanoi into a beautiful, prosperous and civilised city.

He also expressed his hope that young Party members in Hanoi will continue to uphold the city’s glorious traditions, protect and develop the capital city, and help organise Party congresses at all levels.

Ngo Duy Hieu, Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Youth Union Committee, highlighted the remarkable achievements of the Communist Party of Vietnam during the past 80 years, saying the Party has been a great source of pride to its members. He called on young Party members to make more contributions to the revolutionary cause nurtured by the Party and the late President Ho Chi Minh.

On the occasion, the Hanoi municipal Youth Union Committee presented awards to 80 outstanding young Party members. An art performance was also held to mark the anniversary and welcome the coming lunar New Year.
