Cuba seeks closer ties with Vietnam

Cuba wants to further strengthen friendship and cooperation with Vietnam, said Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC)’s Central Committee, Jose Ramon Balaguer.

He made the remark during a reception hosted by Le Hong Anh, Politburo Member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC)’s Secretariat, in Hanoi on November 7.

Anh highly valued the CPC delegation’s visit to Vietnam and its attendance at the first theoretical workshop between the two Parties on November 5-6.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Party, State and people, he extended regards to the Cuban people hit by storm Sandy.

He expressed his deep belief that under the leadership of the CPC, Cuba will overcome difficulties and challenges and gain greater achievements with the new socio-economic development model.

Balaguer, who is also Head of the CPCCC’s International Relations Department, said he is delighted with the two Parties and the two countries’ development.

Both officials agreed to continue fostering exchange and experience sharing between the two Parties, contributing to improving the leadership capacity of each Party, and successfully building socialism in Vietnam and Cuba.

The Cuban guest was also received by Politburo Member Hoang Binh Quan, who is also head of the CPVCC’s External Relations Commission.

The two sides exchanged views on regional and international issues and discussed measures to intensify the traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and peoples.
